It's a lot lighter in weight and smaller than you would expect a set like this to be. It would be well suited for a child. It's supposed to be brushed metal but it looks much more like metal painted with silver paint. It's not very "weighty" and will be difficult to match to a silver dresser mirror. The "gems" are plastic faux pearls (not that I expected them to be real!) but you can see the glue outside the edges of the decorations.

I was looking for an Victorian era silver dresser set for my 9 yr old for Christmas, she really likes that era. This was just right.
